BKC - I'm liking the solar backpack, too although my husband couldn't quite figure out why someone needed a solar backpack! That was too hilarious. I'd love to have one of those ovens too and have that on my list since we get over 300 days of sun here - very efficient...now if only I can keep my Griffin away from the oven. Maybe the HEAT would be a deterrent although I have a feeling probably not.

Thanks Prasetio - it is an evolving market I think and hopefully more and more solar energy will catch on. I'm all for it as if we could turn away from oil, we might have a better shot at saving the planet. It's worth a try in my humble opinion! Thanks for the read, as always!!

I'd love one of those too, Crewman....it's hard to decide for me sometimes 'do I really NEED this' or do I just want to have this new 'toy?' I think I'm a female nerd because I love learning how to use anything that has electronics associated with it! I think me needs to stick to cooking though.....

I love it... speaks to the nerd in me. It would be awesome to have a solar powered backpack! Then my notebook and kindle could always be charged wherever I go!

Thanks, Christopher for the read and great comment. I was thinking though that even in-town trekkers might enjoy them as we all are so desperately in a panic if our 'devices' aren't powered up at all times!

I can definitely see the solar backpack being a must have for long term hikers and wilderness trekkers. Keeping a GPS, a cell phone or even an Ipod charged could be essential and a real lifesaver in an emergency.

Good hub.

Lela - I have heard about cooking on the hood of your car - even on the engine - so I know you're not kidding! Sounds like Texas would be a great place for using solar energy though!!!

BJ - Now that actually sounds like something our government would come up with...the car is 'only $5000 but then you need this and it is $25,000'. And I don't know if it comes in pig or old goat - will have to check on that!

Carolina - I'm tempted to buy 1 or 2 of them myself - for merely educational purposes of course!

Dream On - Thanks for stopping by!

A solar hopping frog toy kit? Wow! I have to tell frogdropping about that one. Does it come in pig, too. If so, I'll buy one.

Speaking of saving energy, I heard there is a new electric car on the market and the price is less than $5,000. What a bargain! But you have to buy a 5,000 mile-long extension cord for it - price $25,000.

Austinstar profile image

Austinstar Level 7 Commenter 19 months ago

I love solar gadgets! Extension cord are so 90's. We have a natural solar oven here in Texas - it's called the hood of your car! Great for grilling hot dogs on the 4th of July! Seriously!
